3,000 hours of sunshine; 122 kms of golden sand with beach resorts for all tastes and pockets. The name Costa de la Luz means
"Sunshine Coast" and when you are here you will understand why.
The astounding diversity of beaches in Huelva means that all tastes are catered for, whether you are adventurous or romantic,
looking for a busy beach with complete range of services and things to do, or preferring to go for long walks without seeing a
soul for miles and miles, Huelva has the right beach for you.
Huelva coastline goes from Donana and the mouth of Guadalquivir River to the mouth of Guadiana River, in the border with Portugal.
Huelva is one of the beach provinces with less housing developments (although increasing).
Its most important moment in history is the departure of Christopher Columbus“ caravels from Palos de la Frontera. Most of the sailors
in the vessels were from Moguer, Palos and San Juan del Puerto.
Huelva and Cadiz coast were also the setting for the semi-mythical kingdom of Tartessos. Also, several researches put here the remains of
Atlantis.
Over the last three centuries the importance of Huelva went down, so there are very few great moments in history. We should remember the
history of "The man who never was", an important operation done by British secret agents during IIWW in Punta Umbria beaches. "The man who
never was" is actually buryed in the graveyard of Huelva.
In Huelva beaches you can find, of course, a wide variety of activities, both in land, air and water, calm or lively and for all tastes and
pockets.
